 Reclaimed Railway sleepers and New Log sleepers make ideal retainers at the fraction of the price of brick walls. 

They make perfect raised planters and can retain banks and built up ground. When stacked on each other with a cap on top they make really good seating.  They have a rustic warm feel matches well with both traditional or modern designs. The Square lines can be softened with planting.
